Sydney "Bra Boy" Jai Abberton has withdrawn his appeal against a minimum six month jail sentence for affray.

Abberton, 40, was sentenced at Waverley Local Court last December to a maximum term of 18 months imprisonment for using "unlawful violence" against another man, Paul Perez, at Maroubra in April last year.

The court heard Abberton's conduct would have caused Mr Perez to fear for his safety during the incident, which occurred at 9.40 in the morning.

He was jailed for at least six months and will be eligible for parole in March this year.

Abberton appealed the outcome but his lawyer withdrew that application at the District Court in Sydney on Tuesday.

Along with brother and former pro surfer Koby Abberton, Abberton is a member of the surf gang the Bra Boys, based at Sydney's Maroubra Beach.

The Abberton brothers were the subject of a 2007 feature length documentary entitled Bra Boys: Blood is Thicker Than Water.
