Three teenagers have been charged with setting fire to bushland in the northern Perth suburb of Woodvale.

The 17-year-old boys allegedly used a homemade incendiary device to start a fire in the Yellagonga Regional Park on Wednesday night.

A nearby resident witnessed the incident and alerted firefighters who were able to extinguish the blaze.

Police said 30 to 40 square metres of scrub was burnt out.

Each teenager has been charged with setting fire to bush during a prohibited burning time.

The incident comes just a few days after a bushfire caused by a fallen power pole destroyed 55 homes in the Perth Hills.
