Boy allegedly pointed fake gun at Sydney police officer

A teenager has been charged after allegedly pointing a fake gun at a police officer on Sydney's Upper North Shore.

Police were called to reports the 15-year-old boy was carrying what appeared to be a pistol at a property on Hunter Street, Hornsby, about 12.30pm yesterday.

A male sergeant approached the boy, who allegedly pointed the fake gun at his face before dropping it when the officer drew his service firearm.

The pistol was later found to be an imitation.

The teenager has been refused bail and is due to appear before a children's court today.
