Boy critical after hitting head in backyard pool

A 12-year-old boy remains in a critical condition after hitting his head in a pool in Sydney’s inner-west this afternoon.
Emergency services pulled the child from the backyard pool at a home on Nicholls Avenue in Haberfield after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
A Care Flight helicopter responded and landed in nearby Ashfield Park, forcing attendees at a Christmas event to clear the area.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was transported to the Sydney Children's Hospital via road ambulance.
He remains in a critical condition.
