It is understood the fatality was a six-year-old boy, News Corp has reported.

The two injured children were stabilised at Bridgeview Hospital before being airlifted to Perth.

Cars race at speeds of up to 150km/hr at the rally.

A Confederation of Australian Motor Sports spokesman has been reported as calling the incident a "tragic accident".

The organisation is expected to issue a statement today.

Police were on the scene along with paramedics, but it is not yet known if anybody was charged.
