Boy hit by car after it loses control during burnout in Adelaide

A 15-year-old boy has been hit by a car when it lost control during a burnout in Adelaide's north-west.

About 1am, the car swerved into a group of people on Newhaven Road in Gillman and the boy was knocked the ground.

The vehicle then clipped another car before a brawl broke out.

One of the drivers was pinned and punched repeatedly in front of onlookers but when police arrive those involved were nowhere to be seen.

Business owner Bill Ambaras came to work in the morning to find his front gate smashed in and parts of rubber and shredded tyres littering the road.

"Someone could get really hurt or killed," he said.

"They're out here doing burnouts and just crazy, you know, it's just a full-on hoon party."

Despite repeated calls to police, Ambaras said the reckless late-night hooning was never ending.

"It's just really annoying that it's happening and no one seems to be doing anything about it," he said.

In a statement to 9News, police confirmed the 15-year-old hit by the silver Ford Sedan was taken to the Women's and Children's Hospital with leg injuries.

A police investigation is underway and officers are hunting for the driver and vehicle involved.

"I think it's only a matter of time before something really bad happens and we don't want that," Ambaras said. 

In the meantime, Ambaras and other business owners want speed humps put in along the road, which is a tactic that has already been used at another hoon hot spot.

"We've been to the police and also to the council," he said.
