Boy, 13, charged with holding up service station with toy gun

A 13-year-old boy accused of brandishing a toy gun to hold up a service station north of the Gold Coast has been charged with armed robbery.

Police said the boy entered the shop in Brygon Creek Drive at Upper Coomera at yesterday at 6pm.

The boy demanded cigarettes and when the attendant refused, he allegedly pulled out a toy cap gun.

A member of the public grabbed the boy and a fight broke out with the child allegedly smashing a glass window.

No one was injured.

A second 13-year-old boy was caught a short distance away and has been released without charge.

Police attended the scene and arrested the boy who was charged with one count each of armed robbery and wilful damage. Investigations are continuing.
