Bondi Beach closed again after shark sighting

A great white shark has again been spotted off the coast of Sydney’s Bondi Beach, temporarily closing it for a second day in a row.

Facebook user DroneSharkApp posted the footage, filmed about 6.30am Wednesday, on social media, saying he used a flashing light on his drone to try and warn body surfers in the water as the lifeguards were not on duty yet.

“Thankfully, the body surfer noticed the warning light, but unfortunately a couple of surfers at the northern end didn’t see it at all,” DroneSharkApp wrote.

“The siren eventually sounded around 7 am which was good.”

Further drone footage of the shark was also posted on the Instagram account BondiRipper on Wednesday morning.

It comes after similar drone footage of a shark was filmed at Bondi yesterday by DroneSharkApp. 

That footage also prompted lifeguards to sound the alarm and close the beach.

Just 10 days ago, Leah Stewart was left in a critical condition after being mauled by a shark at nearby Coogee Beach. 

The young mum was pulled from the water by lifeguards and members of the public after she was attacked while swimming at the popular beach on June 13.

The 35-year-old underwent multiple surgeries following the attack, including an arm amputation.

In the past 12 months there have been six fatal shark attacks in Australia, including two in Sydney.
