Suspicious suitcase sparks bomb scare at Melbourne Centrelink office

The police bomb squad was sent to investigate a suspicious package found outside a Centrelink office in Melbourne's south-east this morning.  

A Victoria Police bomb disposal robot examined an unattended suitcase, which was discovered around 11am in the carpark of the Cranbourne office. 

The Codrington Street building was evacuated as a precaution. 

Police have since confirmed the area is safe and no threat was identified.

The suitcase contained personal belongings.
