Police have been unable to identify a woman whose body washed up at a beach in Sydney’s south this morning.
The body, belonging to a woman believed to be in her late 60s or early 70s, was found floating in shallow water at Brighton Le-Sands about 8.45 this morning.
A crime scene was established but investigators have been unable to determine who the woman is, how she died and if it was under suspicious circumstances.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist with the investigation.
The woman has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a slim build and short, reddish-brown hair.
She was wearing a purple jumper, khaki shorts, red shoes and black reading glasses.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted this week to determine her cause of death.
