Police identify woman found dead in popular Adelaide Parklands

The death of a woman whose body was found in a central Adelaide park this morning is not deemed suspicious, police say.

A man walking his dogs made the discovery in dry grassland in the South Adelaide Parklands, about 50m west of Sir Lewis Cohen Avenue, just before 8am (ACST).

The dead woman has since been identified as a 38-year-old of no fixed address, and police say her death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

However, police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

The woman's death was initially treated as suspicious after she was found with some belongings but no identification. 

"At this stage it's an unexplained death. We have no cause," Detective Chief Inspector Charmaine Peters said earlier. 

"We do not know who she is at this stage and that is what we are working towards."

SES crews scoured the area today, while police used drones and the dog squad in their search.

The woman's body was believed to have been in the park for less than 24 hours before it was found. 

The South Parklands have been linked to several murders in the past, including that of Robert Woodland in 2004.

The 36-year-old man was found bashed to death close to the site of today's discovery.
