A Perth man is lucky to be alive after being bitten by a deadly blue ringed octopus.

Mitchell Ogg was collecting cray pots when the toxic creature fell into his boat off Perth’s garden island.

He was rushed to Rockingham hospital after the paralysing bite on his foot, and survived.

Just one of the small creatures has enough poison to kill 26 humans in just minutes

Navy medics close by were first on the scene after his brother made an emergency call.

“Didn’t see it fall into the boat after pulling a pot, later stung on my bare foot,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Lucky enough to be fine after the day in hospital just feeling crook.”

Experts earlier issued a warning over the creatures after an increase in sightings.

Mr Ogg warned fisherman to wear gloves and boots and watch out for their mates.
