Diplomats posted to Australia are getting a slow tour of Foreign Minister Julie Bishop's favourite places.

Ms Bishop has invited all the Canberra-based ambassadors and high commissioners to visit her home town of Adelaide in early 2015.

This comes after she took them to her base of Perth earlier this year.

About 80 senior diplomats crossed the country for that three-day visit, which included a trip to mining sites in the Pilbara.

Ms Bishop wants the visits to showcase the diversity of what Australia has to offer other countries.
