Almost 75 kilograms of drugs, 22 guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, about $900,000 cash and thousands of cigarettes have been seized and 18 people charged following year-long police investigation.

Last May an investigation began into a Port Botany waterfront worker but was expanded and targeted others allegedly involved in drug trafficking, weapon possession and supply and drug cultivation.

"A total of 20 search warrants have been executed at locations across Sydney and the NSW south coast which have resulted in the arrests of 18 persons who will face a total of 81 charges," police said.

Investigations continue and police expect to make further arrests.

The charges include directing activities of a criminal group and the supply, possession and manufacture of prohibited drugs and precursors.
