Bishop holds talks with new UK counterpart
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will discuss trade and security in her first meeting with Britain's new foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt.
The annual Australia-UK Ministerial Consultations (AUKMIN) will be held on July 19-20, and come less than two weeks after the resignation of former UK foreign secretary Boris Johnson.
Australian Defence Minister Marise Payne and Britain's defence secretary Gavin Williamson will also attend the talks in the UK.
"We will engage with our British counterparts across a range of foreign policy, defence and security interests," Ms Bishop and Senator Payne said in a joint statement.
"The annual consultations are an opportunity to identify areas where both nations can cooperate more closely in the pursuit of our shared interests including in our region, the Indo-Pacific."
