Bikies charged after gun thrown from car

Three alleged members of the Rebels bikie gang face multiple charges following a police chase in which a home-made handgun was thrown from a car in a Wagga Wagga car park.

Police say highway patrol officers initiated a pursuit after a Hyundai hatchback failed to stop as directed in the suburb of Forrest Hill at about 5.20pm (AEDT) on Thursday.

The car drove through a shopping centre car park, where the occupants allegedly threw items out of the vehicle including a handgun.

The car was later found abandoned at the end of a dirt road and three men were arrested nearby.

Police allege all three are members of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang.

Police seized a homemade and loaded pistol at the car park, as well as drug paraphenalia and a substance suspected to be amphetamines.

A 27-year-old man from Marsden Park has been charged with affray, possessing a loaded firearm, not keeping a firearm safely, unauthorised pistol, unregistered pistol and possessing ammunition while unlicensed.

A 24-year-old man from Dundas was charged with affray, not stopping during a police pursuit, dangerous driving, negligent driving and exceeding the speed limit.

A 20-year-old man was charged with affray.

All were refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday.
