Bicycle rider fighting for life after collision in Sydney

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a vehicle collided with a bicycle in Sydney's south-west.

At about 3.40pm yesterday, emergency services were called to the site of the crash between the bike rider and the driver at the intersection of Sackville Street and Hamilton Road, Fairfield.

The rider, a 63-year-old man, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police were told the vehicle left the scene after the collision.

At about 6.40pm yesterday, police arrested a 69-year-old woman at a home in Fairfield.

A vehicle at the home was seized for forensic examination.

The woman was released pending further inquiries.
