Ben McCormack fronts court over child pornography related offences

Suspended A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack, who is facing charges over child pornography related offences, has appeared in court.

The 42-year-old was filmed entering the Downing Centre Local Court this morning, where his case was adjourned to September 5.

Outside the court McCormack’s lawyer, Sam Macedone, said they were waiting on clarification on “outstanding matters”.

“There are some outstanding matters on the brief,” Mr Macedone said.

“When we receive those we’ll be in a much better position to understand what’s there.

“I feel very confident that on the next occasion we’ll be entering our plea.”

Mr Macedone said he has “no idea” what the plea will be until the brief is received.

McCormack stayed silent as he was questioned by waiting media.

McCormack was arrested on April 6 during a vehicle stop on Driver Avenue in Moore Park, Sydney.

He has been charged with using a carriage service for child pornography material. The Nine Network has since suspended him from duties.

Under the terms of his bail, he has been ordered not to go near areas frequented by children, including but not limited to, schools, preschools, childcare centres, and video arcades.
