Belling breaks down in final Wake Up show
Wake Up host Natarsha Belling broke down in tears during the final broadcast of Ten's cancelled breakfast show.
As Belling spoke the words "last ever episode", she burst into tears and was unable to continue speaking. At the final sign-off co-host James Mathison showed her some tough love, embracing his colleague and inviting her to "hug it out, bitch".
Belling thanked her mother who has "held my hand the past two weeks".
"We look after each other, and that's been the ethos of this show," Mathison said afterwards.
"We really appreciate how much you cared about this show, we're fiercely proud."
The Wake Up team learnt of their show's doom at a staff meeting on Wednesday giving them just two days to sign off after six months on the air.
The show was canned after failing to find an audience along with Ten’s morning and evening news broadcasts.
