A mother in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs has been charged with allegedly stabbing her own son.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Drumalbyn Street, Bellevue Hill at about 1.40am and found a 22-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his arm, shoulder and back.

"Initially he had extremely low blood pressure indicating he had a significant amount of bleeding and the location of the wounds can certainly be fatal," NSW Ambulance Inspector Giles Buchanan told 9News.
