Strata confirms 'no notification' was given to workers their building was being used for coronavirus testing
The strata management of a building in Western Sydney that was being used as a coronavirus testing laboratory have said they were not informed infectious people would be on the property.
Yesterday it was discovered via Ben Fordham's 2GB show that level one of a public office building was being used as a COVID-19 testing facility by Laverty Pathology, and patients were using common property such as elevators.
Potentially infected patients were being sent to the Bella Vista property by GPs, but other workers from other businesses in the building were not informed.

The managing agent of the building said at no time were owners informed of the potential risk.
"Yesterday evening we received reports that a company located at the building was accepting patients to test for coronavirus. We can confirm from our subsequent investigation that this appears to be correct," Beaumont strata management wrote to building owners.
"No notification was given, nor permission sought from the owners corporation.
"At this stage we have no information on whether patients have tested positive or negative, however we are making the necessary enquiries to confirm this information as soon as possible."

The managing agent has now arranged for cleaners to come to the building to disinfect common areas such as the toilets and lifts.
Hand sanitisers will be installed in the lobby of the building.
Additionally, strata management have been in contact with NSW Health who recommended that people who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems avoid the building until Monday next week.
"Serious concerns have been raised with the company carrying out testing and we have confirmation they are not accepting patients and no further testing will be carried out at this location," strata management wrote to owners.

Dr Jeremy McAnulty spoke to 2GB's Ben Fordham this afternoon, saying that private pathology companies such as Laverty need to ensure they have correct procedures in place to avoid the spread of infectious diseases.
"So far we don't have large cases of coronavirus in New South Wales," he told Fordham.
"It's very important we have safe processes for people getting tested for coronavirus.
"It's very important we work with private pathology companies to ensure settings are correct."
