FRASER ANNING'S NEW PARTY NAME

* The Queensland senator received a dozen objections to the proposed party name 'Fraser Anning's Conservative National Party'.

* The Australian Conservatives and The Nationals argued it was too close to their party names and would cause confusion for voters.

* Anning wanted to be able to use the abbreviation 'Conservative Nationals', but withdrew this request on Tuesday. There has been no formal decision on an alternative abbreviation.

* The Australian Electoral Commission said the use of the words 'Fraser' and 'Anning' meant it would be less likely to be confusing and was "sufficient to aurally and visually distinguish the party's name and abbreviation from other names and abbreviations on the ballot paper".

* It is eligible to be registered as a party because it has a sitting member of parliament and satisfied the legal definition of a party.
