Barnaby vs Windsor: view from the streets

WHAT DO THE VOTERS OF NEW ENGLAND THINK ABOUT BARNABY JOYCE AND TONY WINDSOR?

"Tony has had his day. Barnaby has done an enormous amount for us farmers. If John Howard's backing him why wouldn't he win?" Vicki Dempsey, Nationals member, Nundle.

"From experience, I would honestly say Tony Windsor is a member I'd vote for. He's done a lot for this area. He's a do-er. Whereas Barnaby Joyce is an `I am' guy - `I'm going to do this' but it doesn't happen." Scott, Werris Creek.

"Barnaby Joyce has done well for the farmers especially in the cow market. Tony Windsor, he did well too. But Barnaby Joyce has the party behind him." Gaye Urquhart, Tamworth.

"Tony Windsor did good things for Tamworth. Barnaby is basically there to serve his own purpose." Howard Stubbs, Tamworth.

"It's all about Windsor really, he's missing the limelight." Jamie, Tamworth

"(Windsor) is past it, he's had his day. At this age and stage in life this would be the last thing on his mind." Anne, Tamworth.

"I'm happy to see (Windsor) back in the ring. I've always supported him. I've known Tony a long time and I just feel he's a more credible candidate. He's done a lot for Tamworth over the years. He did the right thing (supporting the Gillard government) because Abbott was a disaster from the go." Sandra Macmahon, Tamworth.

"I voted for Windsor. I was a bit disappointed (in him supporting Gillard government) but as I thought about it, it was the best he could do for the electorate."

"Tony Windsor is a double crosser. He sold his land to a mining company and has the hide to complain about mining."

"Barnaby will win. The Shenhua business and selling his mine out and putting in the Labor government knowing full well it wasn't the view of the constituents rules Tony out."

"Barnaby is useless. He's done absolutely nothing for us. Tony is more approachable. You can go see him about things."
