Barnaby Joyce denies sexual harassment complaint received by National Party

The National Party has reportedly received a sexual harassment complaint against leader Barnaby Joyce by a Western Australian woman.

The Daily Telegraph reports National Party Federal President Larry Anthony acknowledged there had been a complaint.

"The Federal Party can confirm a formal complaint has been received," Mr Anthony told the News Corp tabloid.

Nine.com.au has reached out to Mr Anthony.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the allegations have been raised with Mr Joyce who has labelled them "spurious and defamatory".

The new allegation was reportedly behind WA Nationals' leader Mia Davies' call for Mr Joyce to stand down as leader, according to News Corp.

However she is not the source of the complaint, which is understood to have been made after details were made public of Mr Joyce's affair with his now-pregnant partner Vikki Campion.

Nine.com.au has approached Mr Joyce's office for comment.

A spokesman for Mr Joyce told News Corp he had been made "indirectly aware" of the claim which he described as "spurious and defamatory".

"He said allegations of wrongdoing should be immediately referred to police so that the veracity of any claim could be properly tested," the spokesman said.
