Trains to stop for months for thousands of Sydney commuters
A major Sydney rail line will be closed for months as work on the newest branch of the Metro continues.
The T6 Lidcombe and Bankstown line will shut down between April 27 and June 29, with trains to be replaced by fare-free buses.
As well as work on the Southwest Metro line, the T6 rail will be "future-proofed", the NSW government said in a release.

The re-opened line will be able to service eight-car trains, compared to its current four-car train limit.
The T6 is a shuttle line of six stations that was created as part of the shutdown of the former T3 Bankstown line.
It carries about 11,000 passengers a day.
Passengers at Lidcombe, Berala and Regents Park can continue to use other rail lines at those stations as alternatives including T3 services.

Passengers at Lidcombe heading into the city or inner west can also continue to use the T1 Western Line, T2 Inner West Line or T3 Liverpool via Regents Park Line.
The Yagoona, Birrong, and Bankstown stations will be closed during the works.
Commuters can use the 8T6 bus line, stopping at all stations between Bankstown and Lidcombe, or the 8AT6, which is an express line between those two destinations.
They can get on a train at Lidcombe and Regents Park, or change to the pink Southwest Link buses at Bankstown.
