Driver killed after cement truck rolls on Melbourne freeway

A driver has been killed after a cement truck crashed and rolled on a Melbourne freeway this afternoon.

The truck was travelling on the Eastern Freeway at Balwyn North when it hit a concrete barrier near the Bulleen Road off-ramp and rolled around 2.30pm, police said.

The sole occupant of the truck, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Police are investigating how the crash unfolded.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays, with the Bulleen Road outbound exit expected to remain closed for some time.

All lanes of Thompson Road between Bulleen Road and the Eastern Freeway are also closed.
