Bondi man seriously hurt in balcony fall

A 38-year-old man has suffered serious head injuries after falling from a first-floor balcony in Sydney's east overnight.

The Bondi man is believed to have locked himself out of his apartment, and was trying to gain access from a neighbour's unit at about 11.30pm last night.

But he fell about three metres and hit the driveway, suffering serious injuries.

Paramedics worked on the man at the scene, illuminated by torches.

He was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition.
