Baird to campaign in Foley's seat as election approaches

With just two days until the NSW election, Premier Mike Baird will head to Auburn, the western Sydney seat that Opposition Leader Luke Foley is fighting to retain for the ALP.

The final days of the campaign are expected to be dominated by street walks, selfies and politicians holding babies as both parties have already released most of their funding commitments.

Mr Baird will today campaign in Auburn, held by Labor on a 7.2 per cent margin, and will at some stage make an appearance at the Royal Easter Show.

Mr Foley was controversially parachuted into Auburn as Labor's candidate, forcing sitting member Barbara Perry into an early retirement.

The Labor leader will start the day in Campbelltown, followed by a visit to the key bellwether seat of Monaro.

The southern NSW seat has been won by the governing party at 25 of the 28 elections since 1927.

Nationals MP John Barilaro picked Monaro up from Labor's Steve Whan at the 2011 election.

Mr Whan, who held the seat from 2003 and 2011, moved to the upper house and is now hoping to reclaim his old seat at Saturday's election.
