Brazen baby formula thieves target Sydney pharmacy

The owners of a pharmacy are vowing to track down thieves who cleaned out their business of baby formula, worth thousands of dollars.

The two have been brazenly stealing dozens of valuable cans right from under the noses of staff in Sydney’s Punchbowl.

Pharmacy boss Fadia Zakhia said they walked in casually with empty bags in their hands.

She said: “First the man, he carries the whole bag and walks out, then the woman helps herself to all the cans of Karicare that are on my shelf. "

Retailing at around thirty dollars a can, it's thought the Karicare powder could be bound for a lucrative black-market in Asia which has sparked shopping frenzies at supermarkets nationwide.

It's not the first time the baby formula 'Bonny and Clyde' have struck the store.

"We've actually chased them down the road - they drop the milk when they see we are getting too close," Mrs Zakhida, said.

These repeat offenders so confident, they're now taking cans with staff just metres away.

Police were called to the pharmacy but the milk thieves are still on the run, so the family that owns the business is taking matters into their own hands.

"We want to get 'em because I don't want them doing the same things to other pharmacies and I don't want them to do the same thing to us again,” Mrs Zakhida, said.
