Baby gender reveal ceremonies have been taken to a whole new level with expectant couples using burnouts to reveal the sex of their unborn child.

Vision that has emerged out of Canberra shows a ute pulling the daring stunt before speeding down a driveway just metres away from pregnant woman, Danielle Hope.

The screeching tyres and blue smoke mean only one thing: a baby boy.

And while the stunt provided onlookers with an exciting spectacle, Inspector Phillip Brooks from the NSW Police told 9NEWS that the driver behind the wheel of the ute, Andrew Coleman is now in a world of trouble.

"It's shocking, a car in this situation in a small street," he said.

"The risks to other residents and other road users is certainly significant.

"Someone in this situation faces not only jail time but losing their car and losing their licence."

Weeks earlier a couple continued the trend, revealing the gender of their baby girl to family and friends with a Mercedes Benz tearing up a suburban street in Sydney’s west.

“This is reckless, dangerous behaviour,” Mr Brooks said.

"What goes through the mind of this stupid person who's willing to be out there putting other people's lives at risk?

“People that are doing these sorts of things at events, social events, are putting themselves and those that are watching these stupid acts at great risk on our roads."
