Australian tourist found dead after going missing in Kazakhstan
An Australian tourist who was missing for three days in Kazakhstan has been found dead, according to local authorities.
In a social media post, a local volunteer rescue group for Almaty, the largest city in the Central Asian nation, said it had found the body of 27-year-old Jake Michael Herd on Tuesday.
Herd had last been seen on Sunday, according to local media reports, when he left his hostel to hike around Big Almaty Lake in the Tian Shan mountain ranges.

His body was reportedly found near the Ayusai River Gorge, at an altitude of around 2800 metres.
In a statement to 9news.com.au, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed Herd's death.
"The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian man who died in Kazakhstan," a DFAT spokesperson said.
"We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
"Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment."
