Australian Conservatives party scrapped

South Australian senator Cory Bernardi's Australian Conservatives party has been officially deregistered, making him an independent in the next parliament.
The Australian Electoral Commission on Friday confirmed the party was wound up earlier in the week.
Senator Bernardi decided to pull the pin after a poor federal election result.

The former Liberal senator left the coalition to start the Australian Conservatives, but believes his supporters backed a Scott Morrison-led government following Malcolm Turnbull being deposed as prime minister.
The AEC has also deregistered far-right minor party Rise Up Australia on a voluntary basis.
