Australian actress Jessica McNamee has revealed she has been a victim of workplace harassment and says she’s pleased women are speaking out about the abuse they’ve suffered in Hollywood.

Speaking at the Australians in Film awards in Los Angeles, McNamee said she’s “relieved” a conversation has started following allegations of sexual abuse by producer Harvey Weinstein.

“Obviously it’s horrific that, you know, that there’s sexual abuse in the workplace…it has been going on for decades,” she said.

“I’m not surprised that it's finally all come out, it’s a relief.

"I’ve certainly been a victim myself of harassment in the workplace.”

Weinstein has been accused of more than three dozen allegations of sexual harassment, including from some of Hollywood's most well-known actresses.

“I think it’s really amazing that…all these women are banding together and supporting each other finally,” McNamee added.

She did not go into detail about what type of harassment she had endured, however said it was “a very unpleasant experience”.
