Australia withdraws from Afghanistan after evacuating more than 3500 people
The Prime Minister has announced that Australia has completed all of its evacuations from Afghanistan, with the last flight having landed in Darwin last night.
"More than 3500 people have now been evacuated to Australia and that includes over 100 who have been evacuated from other locations after leaving Afghanistan," Mr Morrison said.
"Of those 3500 some 2500 are women and children in one of the most desperate and most dangerous parts in the world.

"That evacuation initiative and effort that was undertaken by our ADF together with the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade was one of their finest moments and I want to thank everybody again who has been involved."
Mr Morrison said the evacuation efforts had involved more than 32 flights from Kabul.
He said the plan would now moves into the next phase – the humanitarian program.
Mr Morrison the humanitarian program would involve bringing people to Australia.
