Australia shows dominance and class in first half of World Cup campaign

The Wallabies didn’t have the easiest of starts against Fiji in their first match of the Rugby World Cup, but composure and structure saw them end the half in front  18 – 3.

Fiji have shown their might with strong competitive scrums and hard tackles, but a lapse in concentration has helped the Aussies.

A successful penalty conversion from Bernard Foley saw the Wallabies take an early lead.

The Fijians fought back hard, showing strength in the scrums, and equalised shortly after with Nadolo converting a penalty kick.

Some tactical work from the Wallabies saw David Pocock score a double, both from rolling mauls, to break down the Fijians momentum.

Fijian prop Campese Ma’afu was sin-binned for kicking the ball in the ruck.

Foley added more points thanks to another penalty just before the end of the first half.
