Australia Post announces 1900 jobs will go

Australia Post has announced 1900 jobs will go over the next 3 years.

The company has set aside $190 million to fund voluntary redundancies over the next three years as it grapples with an up to $500 million full year loss.

Managing director Ahmed Fahour told the ABC the decline in the mail delivery service was "critical".

"We have reached the tipping point that we have been warning about where. without reform, the business becomes unsustainable," Mr Fahour said.

We welcomed the federal government's decision to support reform so we can manage the mail service losses, meeting the changing needs of our customers and continue to invest in growing parts of our business such as parcels and trusted services."

There will reportedly be no changes to postal deliveries five days a week.
