Gibraltar becomes most vaccinated place on earth

The most vaccinated region on earth has been revealed as Gibraltar - a British Overseas Territory on Spain's south coast.

The tiny peninsula is home to just 33,000 people, all of whom have received both doses of a COVID-19 jab, making the territory the only other region where all of its residents are totally vaccinated, after Pitcairn Islands.

Yesterday in Australia, 341,000 COVID-19 jabs were administered across the country, bringing the total number of vaccines in arms to 28 million.

Now, 55 per cent of over-16s have had both doses, while 78.5 per cent have had a single dose.

Meanwhile in the United States, vaccine rate have significantly plateaued.

Approximately 741,000 doses per day are being averaged, which is roughly a 78 per cent decrease from the peak of three million daily doses reported in April, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Just over 56 per cent of the total population in the US is now fully vaccinated.

Elsewhere around the globe, the United Arab Emirates is currently sitting at 92 per cent single doses, while Portugal's population is 88 per cent partially vaccinated.
