Injured wallaby reaches for help in devastating Cobargo fires
A man has returned to his family's fire-ravaged property on the NSW southeast coast to find an injured wallaby in need of help.
Spencer Norris and his family were evacuated along with thousands of other residents in the town of Cobargo – where a father and son died earlier this week - unsure of whether he had a home to return to.
Thankfully, Mr Norris and his family's house was spared, but much of the land surrounding it was destroyed.

When they were told it was safe to return to their property, the Norris family were greeted by a wallaby in their yard in need of help.
Video shows Mr Norris offering it water from a bottle as the clearly parched marsupial reaches out for help.
This is just one case of native wildlife desperate enough to come to humans for help in the bushfire crisis.
Millions of native animals are believed to have died so far in the devastating fires sweeping across large parts of Australia, with many in need of food, water and medical treatment.
