THE AUSTRALIAN CONNECTION TO NEPAL EARTHQUAKE

* Melbourne woman Renu Fotedar died after an avalanche at the Mount Everest base camp
* DFAT crisis team deployed to Nepal to assist Australians and trace the missing
* 1150 Australians who were unaccounted for have now been contacted, up from about 830 on Monday
* Australian military plane flights to start evacuating people to Bangkok
AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE TO NEPAL
* $5 million in humanitarian assistance
* $1 million has been allocated from Australia's $5 million package of assistance to the World Health Organisation for urgent medical supplies.
* Search and rescue team able to join 10 other international teams at direction of local authorities
* Small medical team sent to help injured
* DFAT disaster expert to join the UN disaster assessment team
* Defence force plane to deliver supplies including water purification and hygiene kits, shelter and blankets.
