Australia's ambassador to China is close to wrapping up her stint, sparking speculation over who will be appointed as her replacement in the important posting.
Frances Adamson, a career diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has served in Beijing since 2011.
China is Australia's largest trading partner.
