Aussie operations 'undisturbed' in Qatar

Australia's military operations in Qatar have not been affected by the Arab nation's bitter dispute with its Gulf neighbours, The Defence Force says.

Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral David Johnston, said on Thursday there had been no issues moving Australians in and out of the country.

About 30 people work at the Combined Air and Space Operations Centre - the headquarters for the air campaign across the Middle East region.

The centre provides command and control for all coalition air operations over Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

"Our support through that centre remains undisturbed," Vice Admiral Johnston told reporters in Canberra.

"What's occurring in Qatar and the other Gulf nations is a significant development that we would hope to see resolved but there's no impact in the immediate term as we've seen it."

The United States has contingency arrangements if they were required, he said.

Defence Minister Marise Payne visited the centre and met with Australian personnel in April.
