Aussie, NZ defence ministers to hold talks

Defence Minister Kevin Andrews is off to New Zealand to talk co-operation with his Kiwi opposite number Gerry Brownlee.

Mr Andrews said both countries were set to release Defence white papers in coming months and now was a good opportunity to ensure that strategic and policy approaches were in step.

"Our discussions tomorrow will take place as both countries carry out major Defence reforms, modernise our capabilities, and weigh how to respond to complex strategic challenges," he said in a statement on Thursday.
