Woman and man charged with manslaughter of 10-year-old Brisbane boy

A woman and a man have today been charged with manslaughter, child cruelty and interfering with a corpse, over the death of a 10-year-old Brisbane boy last year.

The pair are understood to be the boy's aunt her partner, who had been his carers since he was two.

The boy's body was found in a bedroom in their Mackenzie home on July 19 last year, and police said he had suffered significant injuries.

The 43-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested this morning and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court later today.

Police said the charges were the result of a protracted investigation. 

The specific child cruelty charge is failure to provide to a child aged under 16.
