Attempted abduction in Sydney's west

A man has attempted to abduct a woman in Sydney's west after grabbing her and trying to force her into a car full of other men.

Police say the 29-year-old woman was standing on Railway Street in Liverpool about 4.20pm (AEDT) on Monday when a small red hatchback stopped in front of her.

A man got out and told her to get in the vehicle but he attempted to force her into the car when she refused to comply.

"The woman shouted out before the man let go of her and left in the vehicle," police said in a statement on Tuesday.

Police have been told there were four men inside the vehicle who are all described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance.

The man who approached the woman is further described as being aged in his mid 20s, 170-175cm tall with a medium build, olive complexion, brown shaved hair, unshaven face, brown eyes and hairy arms.

He was wearing a navy t-shirt, beige cargo pants and white sports shoes.

The car is described as being a small, red-coloured, late model hatchback.
