Attempted abduction in Sydney's east

Masked men have tried to abduct a man at gunpoint in an underground car park in Sydney's east.

Soon after 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, a 30-year-old man drove into the car park of a Bondi Junction unit block.

As he reversed into a space, a white Ford Falcon sedan pulled up in front of his car.

Three or four men, with faces covered, confronted him.

One produced a handgun and another wielded a metal pole.

They tried to restrain the man with cable ties but he resisted and during a scuffle was hit on the head with the gun, police said on Thursday.

The man broke free and ran towards a lift in the car park, calling for help.

The offenders fled in their car and were last seen on Newland Street.

The man suffered a cut to his head and was treated at St Vincent's Hospital.

Police say it appears to have been a targeted attack and are appealing for anyone who might have information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The car had blue and red flashing lights on its dashboard.
