The political to-and-fro for 157 asylum seekers at the centre of a High Court challenge has come to an end.

Last night the Immigration Minister Scott Morrison had them flown to Nauru, because he said they weren't willing to be resettled in India.

Their journey started in June after setting sail from India's south before reportedly being picked up near Christmas Island.

Mr Morrison said the group refused to meet with Indian consular officials, claiming it was on advice from their lawyers.

However lawyers for the refugees reject that claim, saying they barely spoke to their clients.
