A man allegedly tried to drag a woman into bushes while she was walking along a beach path in Perth's north.

The 23-year old was walking in Quinns Rock yesterday afternoon when a man appeared from the bushes and tried to pull her in.

She fought him off, suffering bruises in the alleged assault near the entrance to Quinns Dog Beach off Waterland Point at 4.45pm.

Joondalup detectives say the man, aged around 30, then fled.

He's described as fair-skinned with a medium build and clean shaven.

He was wearing a red flannelette shirt and a black baseball cap.

Police are appealing for anybody with dash cam video or other footage from the beach area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm yesterday to send it to them here.
