Arsonist on rampage torches three cars on one block in Sydney

Police are hunting an arsonist who torched three cars within a short distance of one another overnight.

Investigators believe the car fires in the suburb of Yagoona, in Sydney’s south west, are all linked.

An elderly couple walked out onto their Warringa Street verandah about 1.40am to find the bonnet of their blue Toyota Corolla on fire.

One of them suffered minor smoke inhalation from desperately trying to extinguish the blaze.

Another silver Toyota Corolla was lit up on Bertram Street shortly after.

At about 2.20am, neighbours alerted fire authorities to flames licking from a red Ford Laster on Heather Street.

All three fires were extinguished, and police are hunting the culprit or culprits.
