Multiple arrests as police target organised crime in Sydney

Multiple people have been arrested and drugs, cash, and guns seized in a two-day operation targeting organised crime in Sydney's south-west.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, police carried out 20 gun searches in suburbs such as Fairfield, Cabramatta, Burwood, Chipping Norton, Greenacre, and Merrylands.

The warrant spree was in response to arson, home invasions and shootings believed to be organised by criminal networks.

Police seized drugs, cash and firearms, and five men and a woman were arrested during the operation.

A 36-year-old man was charged with drug and proceeds of crime offences and will next appear in court on July 18.

A 31-year-old Merrylands man was charged after police allegedly seized an airsoft pistol at his home, and will next appear in court on July 10.

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Mount Pritchard and charged with affray. He will next appear in court on July 2.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on Church Street, Parramatta, on an outstanding warrant.

He was charged with domestic violence offences and appeared in court yesterday.

A 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested in Cabramatta after an alleged cannabis seizure.

They will next appear in court on July 2.

Further charges are expected to be laid as police continue to examine items and alleged illicit substances seized in the two-day operation.
