Arrest following brief Vic crime spree

One man has been arrested three others are on the run after crashing a stolen car in Melbourne's southeast.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and then hospitalised on Sunday night after crashing an allegedly stolen Jeep in Springvale just before 10pm.

Three people who were also travelling in the car ran from the scene and are still at large.

Investigators were also called to a petrol drive off and an attempted burglary nearby.

Police originally believed the three incidents, which happened within half an hour of each other, were linked - but have since ruled that out.
